About
us
Asclepius
Editions is a very small academic publisher specializing in early music that
is in most cases previously unpublished
in
performing editions. We distribute worldwide. We provide high quality, academically informed
editions that are both scholarly and designed for practical performance.
To date this is mostly early music, especially for viols, but includes
ensemble music for other instruments (see our catalogue).
Our edited publications are taken directly from original manuscript sources
or prints, typically from the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries, and some
facsimiles are included. We supply editions direct to individual musicians.

The
Editions
The
editorial procedures used in our editions comply with today's requirements
by performers concerned with informed historical performance practice.
Editorial interventions or alterations are disclosed and details of anomalies
in the sources are preserved in the edition for scrutiny. All editions
are printed on high quality paper. They are A4 formatted and allow practical
concert performance with minimum page turn problems. Each edition comes
with the appropriate separate parts and score. All bass viol parts use
the proper bass clef or alto clef (not the tenor ''cello' clef that is
found in many dated or uninformed editions).
